Recycling

The theme of this photo was "Recycling for a better future." I saw the idea of recycling an old light bulb long time ago on a Mexican TV show focused on recycling, and since spring just started, I thought this was a cute idea. I followed the idea of kids recycling as an incentive to have parents and children work in little projects like this one since recycling isn't big in Southern Utah. I loved how the photo shoot turned out!

A lot of people know to recycle the little aluminum part of soda cans, but they have no idea what to do with them. When I was a little girl, I learned how to do belts out of them. However, my grandmother took it to the next level making this cute purse. She makes them for fun, but they are a great way to recycle! The theme of this photo was "Style recycling." I wanted to do it sitting on top of a red rock to tie it to this area.

Rembrand Shot

She just looks like a model on this picture!

My experience being photographed was great! Cassandra and I got along really well. I don't like pictures of my profile since I don't like my nose. However, we both made it so the experience was fun and relaxed. I still don't like pictures of my profile, though haha.

Tight Shots.

I decided to post this picture because the focal length, although not very long, it does show the detail on the cigarette. This photo shoot was in Kayenta, Utah and it was one of my favorite for the incredible light we were getting.

This photo was taken during the same photo shoot. I love how perfectly defined the smoke is and my friend's face is also very detailed. Again, amazing light. This picture is one of my personal favorites.

This photograph was also taken the same day as the previous one, except it was in Kayenta. This was at the Town Square in Saint George, Utah. I am fascinated by the sharpness in every single water drop. The light in this one isn't as good because the big clock next to us was blocking the sun, however, I really like the colors in the picture.

I just love this picture! This one was also taken in Kayenta, Utah during the same photo shoot. I couldn't get really close to the ducks because they would fly away so I got to get a good use of the 200mm. Exquisite picture. My favorite of the bunch. Great colors and contrast.

At first I wanted to take a picture of the new building at Dixie State College, but for security reasons it's surrounded by a green fence, which affected the outcome of my photos. Therefore, I decided to take a picture of the Hazy building. The wide angle gave some type of proximity to the corner of the building as well as the statue new to it, but also giving great depth to the picture and the building as well.

When I was taking this picture, I set it up for a 22 mm lens and so my feet weren't in the frame. However, as soon as I pulled back to 10 mm, I saw my bright pink Converse shoes and I loved it. They give the photo that feeling of being so close to the shoes, but far away from the background or even the sign.

I got the same effect on this photo as the one with the shoes. The wide angle makes the picture looks as if the first bench was extremely close to me, and the second one very much further away, when in reality, they are both at about the same distance from me. I really enjoy all the colors in this photo.

This one I just loved and couldn't resist to post it.

In conclusion, I learned that shooting with a wide angle lens is going to give a different feeling to my photos. In reality, it all looks very much different to what a 10 mm lens can do. The objects close to the camera look extremely close, whereas the ones far away look extremely far. In my opinion, it even gives the picture a "cartoony" feeling or look. I really enjoyed taking pictures with a 10 mm. Sadly, it was very cloudy that day and I couldn't do the assignment on a different day so I had to work with the light I had. Hope you enjoy them!
